Question

Bobby, I notice your right foot slips minutely clockwise as you initiate the downswing. I think this is actually a good drill to practice. Keeps the right heel down and facilitates a slide rather than a spin into the downswing.

Bobby’s Answer

Interesting observation, Simon. You may be right, but I would offer you a word of warning: don’t get too style-based. The most important takeaway from your observation is WHY I initiate the down swing that way. I explain in today’s video.

  1. Bobby took your , half day clinic in Naples back in February , amazing what your simple instruction has done for my impact 10 yards longer with every club . Anyone who has the ability to take your clinic would be crazy not to , thanks again , golf is fun again

  2. Bobby, I hit my driver about 230 to 250 yards and pretty straight. I might miss 2 fairways a round and not more then by a couple yards. My question though is about my iron play I’ve lost a ton of distance with my irons. Example 2 years ago be for a neck injury I was hitting my 9 iron 140 yards carry comfortably. Now about 90 to 100 yards swinging hard. My friend says I’m not compressing the ball like I use to. Do you have any drills for compressing the ball better. Just starting to play again. Thanks

  3. I am a 83 year old senior, men’s left hand golfer. I belong to a blue collar golf club in Southern Delta, British Columbia, Canada., Unfortunatly to a broken right wrist and a broken left finger and a Leaking Heart t Valve repair last year I have not found the strength to go out and play golf. A few years ago I played from a 12-18 handicap, now it is probably 36. I am 5’8′ tall and weight approx. 143 lbs. What are your suggestions, like to hear from you, best regards, Sandy R.Karse

  4. I’ve had the yips, the past two years with all of my wedges. I’ve lost alot of mobility since having open heart surgery. I hit all my other clubs fairly consistent, and straight. But I never know where my wedge is going. Out of ten shots I may have one go straight. I can feel the club face turning right at the point of contact. Help… I haven’t used a wedge all season because of these terrible yips…

  5. what do you have on the ground that you are using for a aiming point? Can I purchase one?. Thanks for all your help.

  6. Bobby, I have struggled for four years now really really trying to master the impact zone going over and over each dynamic unable to get myself to get the handle and hands in front of my body trying to get them as far ahead as possible using a aiming point in front of the ball. I think I’m in the right station now and hope I’m on the right track. In your video pushing up with the right leg I just simply drop my hands and arms in front of my body and rotate my workhorse hitting down and BINGO finally I’m making sharp contact, four inch swing bottom. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Please comment.
