Question

Does your stance or ball position change for uphill lies, or just uneven lies in general? In your demo, it looked like for downhill lies, it looked like your ball position was maybe normal- just inside your forward foot. But on the uphill it looked back of middle, between the feet. Also in your demo- the width between your feet seemed very wide on the downhill but more normal on the uphill.

Bobby’s Answer

Yes, the setup is different for uphill lie, Pete- astute observation! I’ll use the uneven lie station at our academy to demonstrate in today’s video:

  1. On a par three golf course when you tee up your ball do you still hit down on the ball when you use a club other than a driver??

  2. I have watched many of your vidios, practiced & practiced & practiced & cannot get the swing bottom. Any suggestions I know I’m doing something wrong?

  3. Thank you for Clampetts Corner videos. I look forward to seeing them and for your expert instructions .

I am struggling to maintain a consistent golf swing. When I practice my swing, I feel great, but when I go to the range or the Tee Box, I can’t hit the ball consistently. Do you know what the problem is and can you recommend any drills to fix this?

Hi Bobby,

I recall during the Porter Cup you gave me a tip on pitch shots… to wait until you feel the weight of the club in your right index finger before pulling down. It works to this day! But I never did learn how to hit down on the ball and take that divot after the strike. So, I think you’re onto something, but at age 78 I’m not sure if I can learn it. But I’m willing to give it a try, so any tips you can provide would be appreciated.

Bobby, I notice your right foot slips minutely clockwise as you initiate the downswing. I think this is actually a good drill to practice. Keeps the right heel down and facilitates a slide rather than a spin into the downswing.

I can’t seem to find a starter for my backswing. I stand over the shot too long, and I seem to freeze there. I’m 76 years old and play to a 12 index.
