There are two shots with which I’m struggling to get my swing bottom 4 inches in front of the ball: the uphill and downhill shots into the green. Should I be adjusting ball position for each?
Excellent question, Brian. The key to mastering uneven lies is to make sure your address position matches the lie. I explain in this video:
“In the Clampett’s Corner you did with Bill Glasson, he agreed with you that Clubhead Lag is the key to great golf, but he mentioned that faster handle speed was the way to achieve it. Any drills to ingrain that thought?”
I need to fully understand the workhorse and generate more speed. Can you go through this step by step? I’m a little slow!
How do you not tense up on the tee when facing a shot into the wind or a narrow fairway with trouble on both sides?
You talked about your successful game when you were young, then instructors told you that you would have to change your swing to get better, but you didn’t get better. Why didn’t you go back to your old apparent instinctive swing that helped you play so well?
Thanks so much for another Great Tip!
I started this game 2.5yrs ago @ 60
So I’m trying to train at it like when I was a
Professional cyclist🚴
This is totally different didn’t realize
How difficult the game is!!
But with all the videos such as yours😎 it has made it Fun learning!
Look forward to your Tips!
Ps have been working on the forward bottom position my impact
And compression of ball has really
Improved my distance and consistency!!
Thanks so much

I also struggle getting the swing bottom to go 4 inches in front of the ball on just a regular lie. What should be my swing thoughts? I am a female player with a high handicap.
My problem is with side hill lies with my feet above the ball. Any tips?
Thank you for this video. May I ask how to keep the ball from pulling left when ball is above feet. The opposite would be how to keep ball from pushing right when ball is below feet. Our course has a few of sideways hills and usually an obstacle between these hills and the green.
Part of the requestors question was regarding ball position.
You said “same position”.
But – in your demo it looked like for downhill the ball pos was maybe normal – just inside of fwd foot.
But on the uphill it looked back of mid betw feet.
Also in your demo the width between your feet seemed very wide on the downhill but more normal on the uphill.
Seem like small points – but maybe necessary to get the proper hip / shoulder position.
Pls explain.
