Question

I’ve lost a lot of distance on my driver and I think I’ve been spinning the ball too much. What’s been going on and can you help me?

Recently my friend, Andrew Wood, joined me at the Indoor Performance Center to talk about some problems he was having with the driver, specifically having too much spin on his drives.

There are three things you need to look at when you’re reducing spin with the driver:

  1. Ball flight – if you’re fading the ball that will cause a lot more spin than a straight shot or a draw
  2. Where you’re hitting the ball on the clubface – if you’re hitting it in the heel, it will spin more than off the toe
  3. Your angle of attack

Watch as I explain to Andrew how those three issues are really what it comes down to in making sure that you’re getting the most out of your driver and how you can fix them to get your drives flying long and straight.
