Question

I need to hit it farther, period. I am fairly accurate and have always felt I could be a scratch golfer if I could gain distance. I am 61 years old, and I still feel this way. Can you help me?

Bobby’s Answer

This is a great question, Stan! I’m so glad you sent in your video for me to take a look at. I uncovered a lot of answers for you, just by evaluating your swing. And- I think increasing your lag may go a long way… take a look below.

How to judge distance the ball will carry out of the sand Is there a fourmula you used to judge the amount of back swing

  3. I notice your right foot slips minutely clockwise as you initiate downswing, I think this is actually a good drill to practice, keeps the right heel down and facilitates a slide rather than spin into downswing. Stan is doing the opposite.

  4. I am 79 Years old and I play Golf twice a week, I also have a problem with distance. Can You help me.

  5. That idea of springing off the right foot at impact has helped me be more patient with holding my club lag. My impact is way more explosive. This is a fabulous video Bobby. Many thanks and all the best at the Tradition.

I am struggling to maintain a consistent golf swing. When I practice my swing, I feel great, but when I go to the range or the Tee Box, I can’t hit the ball consistently. Do you know what the problem is and can you recommend any drills to fix this?

Hi Bobby,

I recall during the Porter Cup you gave me a tip on pitch shots… to wait until you feel the weight of the club in your right index finger before pulling down. It works to this day! But I never did learn how to hit down on the ball and take that divot after the strike. So, I think you’re onto something, but at age 78 I’m not sure if I can learn it. But I’m willing to give it a try, so any tips you can provide would be appreciated.

I can’t seem to find a starter for my backswing. I stand over the shot too long, and I seem to freeze there. I’m 76 years old and play to a 12 index.
