Question

I am struggling to maintain a consistent golf swing. When I practice my swing, I feel great, but when I go to the range or the Tee Box, I can’t hit the ball consistently. Do you know what the problem is and can you recommend any drills to fix this?

Bobby’s Answer

Hi Bob,

Keeping a consistent golf swing is an important part of playing great golf, and yet lots of players struggle with it. When practicing without a ball, your focus is directed at your golf swing. However, many people practice with balls in front of them, which shifts their focus away from their swing and onto the ball. This is called being ball bound and causes many issues to a lot of golfers. Fortunately, I have some advice for focusing on your swing. Go ahead and check out the video to see what I mean.

  1. Thanks. After a round of golf, I realized that I was not hitting through the ball. Once I started hitting through the ball, I was making great contact. I will be going back over the ball bound seesion of your videos. Thanks.

    1. Ron ,THE flight OF THE Ball is not at all THE same with THE three clubs you mention .If you have to go below a tree Limb ,you would hit THE 3 or better THE 2 Hybrid .If you want THE Ball tonsura high ,you would go with THE 5 Wood

  2. All these practice ideas are great, but when you get on the golf course the ball never seems to lay on level ground so I really struggle with ball below my feet, ball above my feet, right foot lower than left and visa versa. So I always seem to divot an inch behind the ball instead of 4 inches in front of it – ugh. Is there an adjustment to simplify this or a practice idea to help?

    1. Scott ,That’s Why golf is a GREAT complex game .There’s nô other response to your queries but playing, playing ,playing a gain on THE golf course .Hitting BALLS on THE driving range or on a flat surface is a pure waste OF Time .THE position OF THE Ball relative to your feet is the answer to your question : Weight below ,Ball higher is the formula.

  3. Bobby, as I have gotten older I am coming out of my shots. Can’t stay down and thru the shot. Of course this
is a no-no for hybrids. Need help

Bobby,

Thanks for all the great tips! I really enjoy them, but I need your help. I’m an 8 handicap player and score okay, however, I know I save the shot with my hands and want the feeling of being able to let it go through impact. Any tips or drills to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bobby,

I strike the ball on the sweet spot, most when I keep my left arm straight on the back swing. This shows me my true flexibility- or should I say lack of! And I can only turn about to the 9 o’clock, or parallel to the ground position. I’m 66 and play four or five times a week. Where does the straight-left arm fit in your impact teaching, or does it?
